Surf Memorabilia and Collectibles

Looking For Surf Related Souvenirs? Or Rare Surf Pieces that are hard to find?

There is a growing movement in collectors circles for surf memorabilia from the past which is interesting as well as being educational. Collectors are looking for classic longboard, surf posters, surf videos, surfing accessories, Duke Kahanamoku's prints, surfing books and related surf memorabilia. The serious surfing collector might be seeking items dating back to the historic beginnings of surfing in Hawaii and Polynesia. There are now many excellent private collections of surfing items worldwide representing a vast range of popular surf memorabilia.
So exactly how did surfing memorabilia become such a hot collectors area? There are several reasons including collecting surf items for financial or investment, for nostalgic or sentimental reasons to build stock in surf museums and for personal reasons ie recognition of having a great surfing memorabilia collection.

Collectible surf items for example that are associated with the commonly heralded ‘father of modern surfing’ Duke Kahanamoku can draw big prices and increase in value as each year goes by. As Hawaii has such a strong surfing history of surfing its not surprising that Hawaiian surfing collectibles are in high demand.

Surfing memorabilia items that people are interested in include surfboards owned and ridden by famous surfers especially longboards from the 60’s, surfing books signed by champions, well preserved surfing magazines and surf posters are by far the most popular surfing collectible items. Collectors will pay tens of thousands of dollars for surfboards owned by champion surfers and several hundred dollars even for a rare edition of a surfing magazine or surf book signed by someone famous in surfing.
